The teenage years start with new feelings, new friends and lots of thoughts that are not always said out loud. Our conversation cards for teenagers aged 13–16 make it easier to talk about what is on their mind – without it feeling like an interrogation. The cards are written in the language young people use themselves, and they can be played with friends, siblings or parents.

Three levels – you set the pace

Level 1 is light and fun: “What is the funniest thing you have seen online this week?” Level 2 is about friends, school and dreams. Level 3 goes deeper into identity and feelings. You choose how deep you want to go, and you can always say “pass”.

How to play

1. Take turns drawing a card and reading it aloud – in Danish or English.
2. Answer the question or do the action.
3. No one loses: everyone wins when we talk.

Why conversation cards for teenagers?

Many parents find that conversation stalls when their child becomes a teenager. A card on the table moves the focus away from “now we need to talk” to a game. It gives time to answer, and the adult answers too, so it becomes a conversation both ways. The cards are in both Danish and English, so they also suit bilingual families and practising English.
