Conversation cards for older kids
Our conversation cards for older kids aged 10–12 take children seriously. From the age of 10, friends, school and social media matter more – and the worries get bigger. The cards ask questions that open up real conversations and let the adult listen without interrogating.
The adult answers the cards too. That makes the conversation equal, and the child sees that adults also have doubts, dreams and bad days.
Examples from our conversation cards for older kids
- "What is a good friend to you?"
- "What do you wish adults understood better?"
- "What would you do if you saw someone being teased?"
Why do conversation cards work for older kids?
Older kids want to talk, but not when they feel interrogated. The cards move the focus from the adult to the game, and because everyone answers, it feels natural to share something personal. Many families use the cards as a weekly ritual, for example on Sunday evenings.
How to play
- Take turns drawing a card and reading it aloud – in Danish or English.
- Answer the question or do the action.
- No one loses: everyone wins when we talk.
When does it fit in?
The cards are great for walks, car rides and quiet evenings. They are also a natural next step towards Hjertesnak Teenas your child grows older.
What’s in the box?
50 cards in a box, printed on FSC-certified paper. Every card has the text in both Danish and English, so they also suit bilingual families and children learning English. Choose between the card game and an online version sent to you by email straight away.
To make talking a habit, combine it with the Talk poster. If you have several children, the Family set gives you all three ages at a lower price. Find more ideas in the article 40 good questions for kids.
Hjertesnak is a conversation game – not therapy. If you are worried about a child, you can contact BørneTelefonen (Børns Vilkår, Danish child helpline) or a professional.
